About the Company

Willie Boats is a small, custom aluminum boat manufacturer based in Southern Oregon. The company’s origin can be traced to the late 1960s, when founder Willie Illingworth began building drift boats in his garage. Dreaming of a way to improve the durability of his designs, Willie turned to aluminum. He debuted the world’s first aluminum drift boat in 1971, setting the standard for small river fishing boats.

After five years of selling his drift boats under the brand name Alumaweld, Willie sold the company and turned his attention to building whitewater rafting frames. He returned to the industry in 1981, selling his signature hand-built boats to the local fishing community before formally incorporating in 1986 as Willie Boats.

The company soon branched into making powerboats, and many more innovations followed. Willie Boats is now considered the number one aluminum boat builder in the West!
